Mrs. Edna Marie Starkey Crews

June 15, 1946—Nov. 21, 2012

Mrs. Edna Marie Starkey Crews, widow of the late Rev. Hugh Bowling Crews, Jr., age 66, of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at the Athens Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Crews was born on June 15, 1946 in Montgomery County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mary Alice Witt Starkey. She retired from the Henry County Board of Education after 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Elliston Church of God. Mrs. Crews will be remembered as a true and faithful servant of God. She was always unwavering in her faith and witness for her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hugh Bowling Crews Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Guaquita Crews LaVelle of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Hugh Bowling III and Liz Crews of Comer, Ga.; grandchildren, Katlyn LaVelle, Mackenzie Crews, Madison Crews, Alexis Crews, and Dylan Crews; sister and brother-in-law, Claudine Francis and Kenneth Pettis; brother and sister-in-law, Lynwood Nelson and Rita Starkey; mother-in-law, the Rev. Mary Crews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Sonny Perry, Constance Shiflett, Deborah and Wesley Hayes, and Cheryl Lindsey; many nieces, nephews, and other family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. The Rev. Hugh Bowling Crews III and the Rev. Barry Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 6–8 p.m. and Saturday from 6–8 p.m.

Mrs. Janet Dougherty Bolton Krepps

Sept.14, 1958—Nov. 21, 2012

Janet Dougherty Bolton Krepps, surrounded by family and friends, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Janet was born on Sept. 14, 1958 to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Adams Dougherty and grew up on Cabin Creek Golf Course and remained in Griffin the rest of her life.

She was preceded in passing by her father, Ralph A. Dougherty, her brother, Mark Edgar Dougherty and her previous husband, David Maddox Bolton. She is survived by her mother Gracella Dougherty; husband Arthur C. Krepps III; two sons Hamilton Bolton and Adam Peeples and four stepchildren, Russell Bolton, Brooke Bolton Stortz, Cody Krepps and Katherine Krepps along with their spouses; and several grandchildren. Janet’s family also includes Rick and Randy Dougherty and Cathy Dougherty Marshall, along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends who she considered family.

Janet began her career with Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant. She treated her passengers onboard like it was her party and she never met a stranger. After 10 years. she moved on to Griffin Hardware and then later started 1893 Gift House, “Tickled Pink.”

Janet was devoted to her family, friends and puppies. She was always caring and doing for others. She was simplistic, loved to cook, play games and entertain. She was always asking, “What can I do for you today?” She enjoyed her time at Jackson Lake and “lived life, laughed often and loved much”. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for over 9 years with dignity, grace, and a sense of humor. She was always optimistic and thinking of others. Janet touched the lives of many and the legacy she leaves will live on in our hearts forever and a day.

The celebration of her life was held Friday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Kevin Lobello will officiate. Interment will follow at Cabin Creek Golf Course.

Mr. Walter F. Bunn

June 30, 1937—Nov. 22, 2012



Mr. Walter Franklin Bunn, age 75 of Griffin, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin.

Walter was born on June 30, 1937 in Haralson, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Georgia Bunn. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of the McDonough Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dale Phillips Bunn, children, Barbara Gilford and her husband Jerry, Wanda Rheily and her husband Mark, Beth Bunn, Misty Liebert and her husband Bill; grandchildren and their spouses, Skye Rega and her husband John, Johnny Rudder and his wife Lisa, David Rheily and his wife Sarah, Christina Lewis and her husband Harry, Ashley Francis and her husband Tim; 12 great grandchildren, sister, Inez Wilson, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Walter F. Bunn will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 12 until 2:00 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel with the Reverend Jack Landham officiating. Interment will follow in the Phillips Family Cemetery.

Mr. Roy D. Littleton

March 29, 1937 - November 22, 2012

Mr. Roy D. Littleton, 75, died Thursday, Nov.22, 2012, at Piedmont Hospital.

Mr. Littleton was born in Barnesville to the late Tom Littleton and Minnie McMahon Littleton. He was a graduate of Pike County High School, The University of Georgia, and the University of West Georgia. As an educator, Mr. Littleton taught in the Pike County School System, the Griffin-Spalding County School System, the Fulton County School System, and Griffin Technical College. He retired from Griffin Technical College as the Vice President for Administrative Services and then worked for the State of Georgia for 10 years in the Purchasing Division. Mr. Littleton enjoyed cooking and gardening and was known for his beautiful orchids.

Mr. Littleton was preceded in death by his father, Tom Littleton; his mother, Minnie McMahon Littleton; and his sister, Mary Frances Manley.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Ruth Littleton Fouts (John); his former wife, Eleanor Edwards Littleton; his sister, Ella Mae Smith (Leslie); and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Crescent Technical College Foundation, Inc.
