MACON — The Griffin Christian Lady Crusaders played a competitive game, but fell short to the Central Fellowship Lady Lancers 52-45 Friday night in non-region action on the road.

GC falls to 1-1 on the season.

The Lady Crusaders couldn’t stop Central’s 6-foot-2 center Destiny Bush, who led all scorers with 28 points. One of Bush’s teammates also scored 14, which meant the rest of the Lady Lancers scored 10 points overall.

“It was a good game. It was close all the way,” said Lady Crusaders head coach David Hammond. “Central was only up by six at halftime and we got within two in the fourth quarter, but we couldn’t overtake them. I was still pleased with our effort.”

Brittany Foster led GC with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Chelsey Deaton added 7 points and Lily and Katy Hammond chipped in six points each for the Lady Crusaders. GC senior Leyah Brown also had 7 assists and 8 steals.

GC won’t be back in action until a road contest at Grace Christian on Nov. 26 at 6 p.m.
