Gerald N. Bailey

Griffin resident

Gerald N. Bailey was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Ludlow, Mo. A resident of Griffin, he passed on to be with his Lord on Nov. 13, 2012.

He and his wife Faye were married July 17, 1948 in Topeka, Kan. He is survived by Faye Bailey, his wife of 64 years; his son Don and his wife Peggy and their son Blair; Rick and his wife Debbie and daughters Erin and Nicole; Roy Bailey and his wife Elizabeth and their two sons Roy II and Jonathan.

During his working career, Mr. Bailey was a farmer, an aircraft engine mechanic, welder, pilot, an FAA aircraft inspector and a Pan Am flight engineer for 34 years. He retired as check engineer instructor on the Boeing 747 airliner and had traveled all over the world. He was an avid adventurer at heart.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Jim Lane will officiate. Friends may visit the family Friday from 10–11 a.m.

He and his wife were members of the Sojourners organization and he served others by helping repair church buildings, youth camps and children’s homes and was known for his willingness to help others in need. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in memory of him be sent to Raintree Village Children’s Home in Valdosta, Georgia at 3757 Johnston Rd. Valdosta, GA 31601.

Mr. Edward Lavan Kinard, age 54 of Milner, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

Mr. Kinard was born in Griffin, Georgia on July 14, 1958. He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Kinard. Mr. Kinard was employed with Kinard Alignment, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, member of Cub Scouts Troop 13, member of The Order of Arrow, and loved Nascar Racing.

Survivors include his children, Patrick “Kyle” Chambers, Donovan “Miles” Kinard Ulrey, Andrew “Kaleb” Kinard, Margarette “Maggie” Sarah Kinard, “Emily” Abigail Kinard; grandson, Ashton Dakota, and expected granddaughter,Victoria Hope; mother, Gail C. Kinard; sister, Mariea K. Bladwin; nieces, Kristin and Jessica.

A member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Jeanelle Chappell Crowder, age 88 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Crowder was born in Spalding County on August 3, 1924. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Chappell and Daisy Smith Chappell; also preceded in death by her husband, David Levere Crowder. Mrs. Crowder was retired from Dundee Mills and a member of Kincaid Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Margaret C. Parker; nephews and nieces, Victor C. Parker, Sr and his wife Lyn of Eastman, Kathy Arrington and her husband, Ernie of Griffin, Peggy Raiteri of Griffin, Linda Bohler and her husband, Merideth of Charleston, Lisa Rogers and her husband Bob of Griffin, Gloria Foster of Morrow; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lucille McKissick O’Kelley Miller, age 92 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Brightmoor Nursing Center.

Lucille was born in Walton County, Georgia on August 17, 1920. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Guy McKissick and Susie Estelle Johnson McKissick; husband, William Jack O’Kelley, sons, Cecil Jack O’Kelley, and Joseph Gerald O’Kelley, brothers Albert LaFayette McKissick, James McKissick, Bennie McKissick, J.C. McKissick, Buck McKissick, Johnny McKissick, Bobby McKissick; sisters Mary McKissick Partain and Betty McKissick.

Mr. George C. Harned, age 69 of Orchard Hill, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Christian Ministries Hospice.

Mr. Harned was born in Illinois on August 30, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Troy Harned and Fannie M. Harned, also preceded in death by sisters, Shirley and Lucille and brothers, Thurman, Jr. and Bill. Mr. Harned was a member of Mason lodge 413, and the American Legion. He loved farming especially baling hay, and was retired from Ford Motor Company, and a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Harned, daughter, April and Terry Brannon of Zebulon; grandson, William George Brannon; sister-in-law, Margaret Perkins of griffin and her family, Cathy and Jerry Grant, Debora and Mitchell Vaughn, Connie and James Moore, Wayne and Keri Perkins, Bobby Perkins, Susie Shaw and Terry Howard, Neal and Tracy Perkins; brothers, Bob, Jim and David Harned; several nieces and nephews.
