“We had a few down on the boys side because of injuries, but those guys that took their place stepped up and did their best,” said Spalding head coach Dolores Owen.
Spalding’s Benjamin Parker came in 31st with at time of 17:59, Daniel Blake had a good run, finishing 135th in 19:28, Ryan Silvis was 156th with 19:45, Brett Piland was 164th with 19:52, Jon Eady was 177th in 20:21, Christian Gray was 191st in 20:57 and Aaron Moss was 202nd in 21:19.
On the girls side, Stephanie Estrada was 67th in 23:14, Blair Dunaway was 86th in 23:45, Emma Johnston was 101st in 24:13, Li Anne Harris was 118th in 24:53, McKenzie Dallas was 121st in 24:54, Grenishia Daniel was 125th in 24:58 and Alisha Jordan was 157th in 26:08.
“I was so pleased with Emma Johnston’s progress this season. She really stepped up for her team and I look forward to next year, her senior year, watching her progress even further,” said Owen. “Blair ran a minute faster at state than she did the week before at last chance as did Grenishia and McKenzie. All in all, everyone did very well at state.”
The girls team finished 16th out of 32 teams.
“I would like to say a big thanks to my seniors this year (Jon Eady, Brett Piland and Grenishia Daniel) for their dedication to their school, cross country, their teammates and me. I wish for them to have continued success this year in all they do,” Owen said.
