Early voting ends Friday at 5 p.m.

“After that time, anyone wanting to vote must go to their assigned polling place on Tuesday, Nov. 6, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.,” said Spalding County Elections Supervisor Terry Colling.

Almost 11,000 or about a third of Spalding County’s registered voters have opted to vote before Election Day. There were 34,313 registered voters in the county for the July 31 primary elections.

Through close of business Monday, Oct. 29, Colling said, there have been 9,876 early voters and another 1,035 paper absentee ballots issued. Paper absentee ballots are due back to the Office of Elections and Registration, 825 Memorial Drive, Griffin, by Election Day.

All early voting will be held at 825 Memorial Drive, next to the Elections Office in the Memorial Drive Plaza. For those coming to vote early, photo ID is required, as it is on Election Day.

Those going to vote early will also have the opportunity to sign up for the county’s severe weather emergency notification system, FirstCall. Firefighters will be at the Memorial Drive location with information on registration and computers to sign residents up on site.

With the construction of the new Senior Center, only one driveway is open for traffic to the early voting precinct, the one closest to the cemetery, county officials have advised. The Memorial Drive site will also be precinct site on Election Day for those who voted at the Library precinct during past elections.

For those waiting until Election Day, Colling said voters can find out their assigned polling place by calling 770-467-4245 or visiting the website for the Secretary of State – www.sos.ga.gov. Click on MVP (My Voter Page) and enter the requested information.

That website also provides the opportunity for voters download a sample ballot.
