Last week, the City of Griffin Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of an outage management system, for $165,100 plus an annual maintenance fee of $3,600 for the electric department. When asked if it would solve the problem of getting through during an outage, Griffin Power Director Bill Bosch said the system “would help dramatically during outages, adding incoming phone lines and allowing for outgoing messages to let customers know about the outage.”
The outage management system, he said, “will allow us to answer more calls and let customers know when the outage will be over.”
He said it can also be used during non-outage times to get messages out, or post an outgoing message.
