A student was arrested Friday at Griffin High for reportedly stealing a gun.

Griffin Police arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile Friday afternoon at Griffin High School for reportedly stealing a handgun from his foster parents. The gun was not recovered but the teen reportedly told police he did not bring it to school, but “got rid of the gun” the night before.

The 15-year-old’s 85-year-old foster father stopped an officer on patrol Friday afternoon on West Broad Street and reportedly said the teen had broke into the man’s bedroom by picking the lock on the door and stole his .38 caliber pistol. A witness reportedly told police he had seen the boy with the pistol tucked in his pants as it had a wood handle.
