The Positive Behavior and Interventions and Support (PBIS) program has been part of the Griffin-Spalding County School System for a while, teaching students the importance of excellence in behavior and academics.

Griffin High School took the program to the next level when it celebrated the grand opening of its very own PBIS store Thursday.

The idea of the store, which was conceived by Griffin High Principal Keith Simmons, is as simple as appealing. Students can earn points for excellence in five areas — attendance, academics, leadership, service and behavior. For two days within each nine-week-period, they can then visit the PBIS store and redeem their points for a variety of items, ranging from candy to school supplies to gift cards to gaming systems.
