The City of Griffin is planning to increase its water capacity with about $7.7 million in improvements.

The funding for the projects will come from the $9 million paid to the city by Coweta County as part of the revised water sales agreement with Coweta County and the Coweta Water & Sewerage Authority. The contract issue has been in court for some time, with courts eventually ruling in the city’s favor.

The projects which benefit the entire water system include replacement of the Flint River pump station, upgrading the Still Branch Reservoir water treatment plant to 12 million gallons a day and a booster pump station to get more of the finished water from Still Branch to Griffin.
