Variance denied for trailer park

The Spalding County Board of Appeals unanimously denied a request to extend a non-conforming use for a trailer park.

Two months ago, Mary Crowley had asked that the variance be granted to allow for trailers to once again be parked on some of vacant pads at the Vineyard Way Mobile Home Park at 2255 Old Atlanta Road. Crowley, 71, now owns the 2.64-acre existing mobile home park, which was owned and operated by her husband since 1980 before he died last October from cancer.

She said her husband had operated and maintained the park, but stopped because of the health issues, which was their first priority.
