Secretary of State releases summary of proposed amendments

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp released of the summaries of proposed general amendments to the Constitution of Georgia that will be voted on in the Nov. 6, 2012 General Election.

The summaries from Kemp, Attorney General Sam Olens and Legislative Counsel Wayne R. Allen of the Constitutional amendments are available in their entirety at www.sos.ga.gov/elections, and also on the Secretary of State’s MVP website.

Amendment 1, according to the language on the ballot: “Provides for improving student achievement and parental involvement through more public charter school options.” It is based on House Resolution 1162 and voters will be asked yes or no: “Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow state or local approval of public charter schools upon the request of local communities?”
