City OKs issue of $60 million in bonds

The City of Griffin approved resolution Tuesday night authorizing the issuance of public utility revenue refunding bonds in a principal aggregate amount not to exceed $60,100,000.

By doing this, City Commissioner Dick Morrow explained, the city will save an estimated $8.5 million over the term of the bonds because of the current low interest rates.

“We’re not going through this for the fun of it,” Morrow said.
