ATLANTA — It’s another win streak for the GISA No. 3 state-ranked Griffin Christian Lady Crusaders volleyball team.

The Lady Crusaders showed some heart Tuesday evening, defeating the Holy Spirit Prep Lady Cougars 3-2 to sweep the series and win their second straight game after their loss to Calvary Christian last Thursday.

GISA Class AA Griffin Christian, 17-1 overall, had to rally to win Tuesday at Holy Spirit. GC won the first game 25-17, but lost the next two games 18-25 and 24-26 to fall into a 2-1 hole. But the Lady Crusaders toughed it out, winning the final two games 25-5 and 15-11 to win the entire match 3-games-to-2.

“We fought through a tough match and got the win,” said GC coach Melanie Foster. “Holy Spirit is a really good team.”

The Lady Crusaders look to sweep GISA Class AAA No. 5 Mount de Sales Thursday at 6 p.m. at home. They beat MDS 3-1 on Sept. 13 in Macon.

GC 3, Arlington Christian 0 (Monday): The Lady Crusaders downed the No. 1 team in the state in GISA Class AA Monday evening at home, winning 3-0 against the Arlington Christian Lady Eagles to sweep the series and rebound after falling to Calvary Christian last week. Griffin Christian beat Arlington 3-0 on Sept. 11.

GC won Monday’s match 25-12, 25-9 and 25-17 in a Senior Night match that wasn’t close at all. In fact, the No. 3 Lady Crusaders used several of their younger players in the final game and rested the starters for a few points.

“The girls all played really well,” said GC coach Melanie Foster. “It was a solid game and I was proud of how we bounced back after our loss to Calvary.”
