Tuesday’s Day of Remembrance service was to honor the 89 victims of homicide in Spalding County since 1981.

“I hate that we have to do this,” said Barbara Peurifoy, “but I am glad we are here to honor and remember the victims.”

On the way out, one of the family members thanked the Victim Service Unit for the service, “it made my day.” to which the member of Victim Service Unit member said, “that’s why we are here.”

Keynote speaker and Griffin First United Methodist Church Pastor Kevin Lobello cited Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, of which he said “a few songs have been written.” It begins: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
