The Spalding County Board of Commissioners were served Monday with a notice that the board and each commissioner is being sued over the county’s Emergency Management Ordinance.

This was at the start of the meeting during public comments. Later in the same meeting, the board approved the already scheduled first reading on a revised ordinance which addresses some of the concerns raised in the lawsuit filed by Will Sanders.

Sanders, who had previously unofficially notified the county of the pending civil action, was not the one to serve the notice. John Reynolds, who stated his address was on County Line Road, and said he was not a party to the lawsuit, notified the board and each commissioner they were being served notice of a summons and handed copies to each of them during the citizen comment portion of the meeting.
