The Griffin-Spalding Board of Education and the Griffin Judicial Circuit Superior Court will host a rare special session of the Georgia Court of Appeals on Thursday, Sept. 13.

The special session comes after Court of Appeals Presiding Judge Anne Elizabeth Barnes accepted the invitation of Christopher C. Edwards, chief judge of the Griffin Judicial Circuit Superior Court, to host the special session. In hosting the special session, Griffin will be welcoming one of its own when Judge Christopher McFadden, a Griffin resident, will be joined by Presiding Judge Barnes and Chief Judge John J. Ellington.

The Court will hear oral arguments in two cases, Burdette v. McDowell, et al, and Howard Jr. et al v. Alegria, each of which require ruling by the Court to resolve the parties’ disputes. The special session of the Court of Appeals of Georgia will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, at the Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education Auditorium located at 234 E. Taylor St., Griffin.
