• The president made a statement in 2009, that if things didn’t improve in his first term, he’d be a one-term president. Hopefully the people will remember that statement.

• I guess the Democrats are still in a coma. For two full years they controlled both houses of Congress under Obama, nary a budget passed. So, guess the debt will rise to over $20 trillion if Obama is re-elected.

• Aug. 30 at 8:37 a.m. while driving north on Old Atlanta Road I followed a Black Chevy Malibu with Florida tag into the Woodroof fire station trash dump station. Funny that no one even checked the tag and the woman and the jail help unloaded her trash and they drove on. Funny, I thought this was for Spalding residents?

• Wouldn’t it mean for someone to have a “tax decrease” of $176,921 on Westchester Drive that their house was assessed at over $12 million? I believe you may have your terminology wrong.

• Tax assessor, you expect us to take our valuable time to appeal our overly-inflated property assessments. everyone but you can see property values are down 30 percent to 50 percent. How much is it costing the taxpayers of this county for the extra people you hired to argue with us on these appeals? We the people need answers not excuses.

• The Democratic Convention has dropped any reference pertaining to God at their convention. Many say they believe in God but don’t want to mention Him or His son Jesus. Well my friends you have a choice, Jesus is the only way to have access to the Father and absolutely no other way will get you to Heaven. It’s your choice.

• Any real estate person will tell you location matters a lot in property values. One of the people that appraised my property stated to me the followering “Equal size houses in Spalding County have the same value no matter the location.” Our so-called county leaders need to clean house at the Tax Assessor’s Office and appoint people who really know what they are doing and not have to hire outsiders to do their job.

• OK, taxes are high but let me tell you what doesn’t work • the sorry electric system. It’s out half the time. our bills should be lowered. Get it fixed, you sorry commissioners.

• Taxes, taxes, taxes. Nothing to show why it is going up. We need to consolidate the city and county. We are paying twice as much to operate a city and county that does not grow. They just keep spending, We need to change “Griffin Great and Growing” to “Slow and Decaying.”

• If Major League Baseball (MLB) would drug test all players who’s last name begins C, H, G, and R there would a lot of jobs available in MLB.

• Recently read about CNN having very low percentage of viewers. CNN’s management said their on air personnel are non-partisan. The only people non-partisan are Kyra Phillips and Carol Costello. If Wolf Blitzer, Carol Crowley, Brooke Baldwin and Solodad O’Brien leaned any farther left they would need crutches to walk straight.

• The President and his wife are going to be very mad on election night. The “Fat Lady” is going to sing for them.

• Bill Clinton’s convention speech was masterful. However, his view of the U.S. is not the same as our founders and it was our founders’ view that made this country great.

• I don’t understand these gizmos around here who are complaining about the Kroger deal. Do you people know nothing about business? I don’t always agree with our local government but I give them credit in this deal as they are trying to encourage business.

• Hey Republicans, no one is going to force you to get an abortion or marry someone of the same sex against your will.

• I just watched the Obama acceptance speech. Reminds me of an old Southernism • when he was talking to me, he knew he was lying, I knew he was lying, and he knew that I knew he was lying.

• Fact — No president with an economy this bad has ever been re-elected. May history repeat itself. May God have mercy on our souls.

Maybe the people with the Florida tag who are taking trash to the Woodroof station just moved to Griffin and haven't had a chance to get new tags. Or, maybe they are visitors and were doing their hosts a favor. Or, maybe, just maybe, they drove all the way from Florida just to dump their trash in Griffin because all of the dumpsters in Florida were full.

I see the push is still on for the airport. The voters said no. The current airport is supplemented with tax money each year as well as the golf course. If they are not self sustaining, they should be closed. The new airport will have to be supplemented with tax dollars while people owning hangars will be profiting from the tax dollars. STILL NO TO THE AIRPORT!
