Two men were arrested just after midnight Wednesday outside the window of a police officer.

The officer was awakened at 12:42 a.m., by a loud disturbance outside his residence on West College Street Extension. Upon leaving his apartment, the officer made contact with one of the men, who was sitting on the steps located directly under the officer’s apartment.

That man, Terrance A. Sears, 27, of 606 West College St., reportedly was using profanity and had a strong odor emitting from his person. Sears reportedly had been warned earlier that night by other officers to go home after his behavior at Haddox Grocery Store on Meriwether Street.

While talking with Sears, the officer reportedly observed the second man, Sherod Montez Driver, 30, 1100 West College Street Extension, sitting on the curb in the parking lot and reminded him of the notice from apartment management sent to every resident that anyone outside in the parking lot or breezeways will be cited for loitering.

Both men were then arrested, handcuffed, placed in the backseat of the responding officer’s patrol car and transported to the police headquarters for processing. Sherod was released on a copy of his charges, loitering, and advised of his court date.

Sears was advised as well of his court date, but was transported to the Lamar County Jail for detoxification and lodging. He was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Wake a cop, you get arrested for loitering. Wake anybody else and call the cops, and you get blown off for wasting their time.
