The Haunted Theatre on Hill Street is holding open auditions this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Studio D School of Dance at 111 N. Hill St. for its fourth annual Haunted House event in October.

According to the Haunted Theatre’s Robert Chauncey, fun, energetic, reliable and creative people, and who can add to an already existing group of scare-actors, are encouraged to audition.

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. They must also be able to work the nights of Oct. 19, Oct. 20, Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 as well as a yet to be determined dress rehearsal day the week of the Haunted House’s opening.

“If scaring people just isn’t for you, but the thought of helping out a great group of people with a good cause sounds like something you would be interested in — (the theater does) have non-scaring positions available as well,” said Chauncey.

Last year’s Haunted House was the most successful year so far, Chauncey said, and this year’s goal is to be even better, as the event introduces Griffin to “dead things.”

On each of the four nights in October, the Haunted Theatre will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The cost per person is $5, and all proceeds of the Haunted House will benefit the Griffin Ballet Theatre.
