— How can Spalding County property values be increasing when the whole nation is decreasing? Can city and county leaders be that stupid that they think citizens don’t know what they are doing? Didn’t the T-SPLOST teach them anything? We citizens are fed up with our officials thinking they can keep spending our taxpayer dollars on their personal agenda.
— I live in what could basically be described as a shack in unincorporated Spalding County. I recently received my tax assessment from the Board of Assessors. Apparently, they think I live in a penthouse in New York City.
— In the Olympics, there were some Georgia residents with Russian-sounding names who won medals. But the United States did not get credit for winning the medals. Someone needs to investigate this.
— Do the city, county and schools have an energy conservation plan? Look at all the lights on at all the city and county buildings and schools that are on at night. They are so big on technology. Haven’t they heard about motion-sensored lights? Or do they care? Of course not, it’s not their money. The property owners pay for it.
— Without a doubt, the No. 1 highlight of the 2012 London Olympics wasn’t Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps, but the reunion of the Spice Girls in the closing ceremony.
— I think the 2016 Olympics should include men’s synchronized swimming and men’s rythmic gymnastics.
— If I was planning to start my own business in Griffin and Spalding County, I would definitely consider starting an automotive business, specializing in front-end alignments, because one can go anywhere in Spalding County, get a front-end alignment, and if you are not very careful, you will need to get another alignment on your vehicle by the time you get back home.
— Our county government paid around $800,000 of your tax money to have your property value reassessed. In other words, the taxpayer paid to have their taxes increased on their own property. Come on county government, learn to budget and govern within your means. Stop trying to get more of our tax money.
— The government should provide everyone with a job, free health care, free food, free transportation and free housing. That’s the only reasonable and fair thing to do in our society.
— Goober alert! My wife is thinking about sending a comment to My Two Cents.
— To the boneheads who keep complaining about their tax assessment: It is a privilege to live in this county. So, shut your mouth and pay your taxes.
— The Democrats just can’t help themselves. Romney picks Paul Ryan and the president says he’s just another Republican. You run down anyone who doesn’t agree with “your” agenda. Well Mr. President, you’re not just another Democrat, your a radical, vile-talking, hateful man, who bows to Muslims and doesn’t respect Christians.
— The Griffin-Spalding Development Authority needs to visit the development authority in Paulding County, or have them come here, and let them tell our folks how they are able to attract so much commercial development into their county, which is now the second-fastest growing county in Georgia.
— People who support gay marriage also believe that the president is not a Muslim.
— It is interesting that the big-name Republican women (such as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann) are attractive, while the big-name Democratic women (such as Hillary Clinton and Dianne Feinstein) are dogs.
— The county commission honored a motorcycle club, not a motorcycle gang, that had done a lot of good deeds. What is wrong with you?
— The property owners in Spalding County just got a back-door tax increase on their property. Instead of facing the public with an up-front tax increase, our county government takes the coward’s way out by increasing the value of property. The economy is not good, but this county government has no idea the burden they are placing on the taxpayers.
— Seems as if the tax assessors just pinned a parcel map on the wall and threw darts at it. Wherever a red dart stuck got a tax increase. Wherever a white dart stuck stayed the same. Wherever a blue dart stuck got a decrease. In other words, there seems no reason for some of the increases from old values.
— A tale of two streets, two lots and two houses. Streets side by side, a lot on each street roughly the same size. A house on one street larger, the other smaller. Both well maintained about the same. Larger house had a decrease in value and the smaller one had an increase. Doesn’t make much sense, does it?
— The SEC has the best football. The other conferences should just give up and not even be allowed to have football teams.
— Soccer is an ideal sport for women because no one ever gets hurt and no one ever gets their uniform dirty.
