In anticipation of the upcoming school year, which starts Monday, about 800 teachers of the Griffin-Spalding County School System listened to Superintendent Curtis Jones telling them about the school district’s recent academic achievements as well as plans and expectations for the near future.
“If we are about educating students, this shows you are doing an outstanding job,” said Jones in reference to improved test scores. “I thank you. I thank you. I thank you.”
After welcoming the 75 new teachers in the school system for the 2012-13 school year and introducing new principals, Jones handed the program over Norcom President Hal Rahn, who originally devised the idea of the Education Celebration.
