While voters across the county said no to T-SPLOST and to two incumbent commissioners, there were a few precincts where the results in these and other races were different.

Based on the official final results from the July 31 elections, voters in three of the 21 precincts were in favor of of the transportation sales tax. Voters in precincts 1 (Second Baptist Church), 2 (Fairmont) and 6 (City Park) approved it.

At Precinct 1, it passed 101-54, while at Precinct 2, it passed 107-90; and 147-115 in Precinct 6.

Precinct 19 (First Assembly) had the most no votes for T-SPLOST with 534, followed closely with 513 at Precinct 21 (Sun City) and 500 at Precinct 13 (County Line). The Sun City precinct also had the second highest yes vote with 228, second only to 232 in Precinct 5 (Stuckey Auditorium).

In the District 4 County Commission race, incumbent Eddie Freeman won only two of seven precincts. taking Precinct 5, 108-82, and Precinct 15 (Blalock Fire Station) 76-75. Challenger Bart Miller Jr. took the other five precincts, getting the most votes in Precinct 13 with 319 and Precinct 19 with 309, which were also two of top three precincts in opposition to the T-SPLOST.

Freeman was the county’s representative on the Three Rivers T-SPLOST project committee along with former Griffin Mayor Joanne Todd.

In the District 3 County Commission race, the incumbent Bob Gilreath did not win any of the five precincts and did not get into double digits in any of those precincts. Fellow Democrat Rita Johnson won four of the five precincts in the primary, with Greg McClarin taking the City Park Precinct with 80 votes to 66 for Johnson and 8 for Gilreath.

Republican challenger Michael Renew had more votes than all three Democrats combined in two of the five precincts, Precinct 8 (Boy Scout Headquarters), with 87, and Precinct 10 (Carver Road Fire Station) with 98. He also had the most votes at the Stuckey precinct with 69.

Renew and Johnson will face off for the District 3 seat in November.

In the Probate judge race, Jan Hunt won 20 of 21 precincts, and finished third behind Gerald Bailey and Kaye Landrun Norris in one precinct, Second Baptist. Bailey also finished second in five other precincts, Fairmont, 9 (Cabin), 14 (Sunny Side) and 15 (Blalock),

The precinct with the largest number of voters to turn out was Sun City with 746, but the precinct with the highest percentage of turn out was 42.4 percent at Precinct 3 (Memorial Drive Plaza). Sun City has the second highest number of registered voters at 2,291, second only to the 2,866 at Precinct 5 (Stuckey Auditorium).

The precinct with the lowest turn out with 160 voters and 9.8 percent turnout was Precinct 1 (Second Baptist). The precinct with the fewest registered voters was Blalock with only 501, which had 35.3 percent turnout.
