— There’s no use in voting in the July 31 election. Nothing’s going to change around here, regardless of who is in office. They’re all a bunch of nitwits.

— Is there not any good Christian music anymore like Vestal Goodman, Johnny Cook or the Florida Boys? I can’t listen to these so-called Christian radio stations because it’s not Christian music, it’s pure rock ’n’ roll. You can’t mix the devil’s music with sacred music, it’s a bold-faced sin.

— “Build it and they will come,” was the punchline in the fictional movie “Field of Dreams” but we now have city and county commissioners that think spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a Field of Dreams airport to go along with the Field of Dreams industrial park is a smart way to run a government.

— Has anyone thought about creating a wild animal safari park at the new industrial park? This would attract tourists and create local jobs. And, the wild animals would eat the grass, so there would not be any additional mowing costs at the property.

— Why do we have inmates in the Spalding County Jail waiting for one to two years and over for their case to come to court? What is the holdup? Is our court system so slow that they cannot be processed within one year?

— If the T-SPLOST passes, will all those new jobs be given to outsiders? That’s what happened with Sun City.

— Will we have the business to support a new airport? No. Henry County doesn’t need an airport to draw new business. What are we doing wrong? A new airport in Spalding County will be used primarily for recreational aircraft. Do we really want all those small aircraft buzzing around over our homes?

— I have a message for all American citizens involving both local and the presidential elections. Get out and go vote. If you want to have a say-so on who will be leading this nation for the next few years, I suggest that you go vote.

— Be extremely picky when you go to the polls this year. Do some research on the candidates. Vote for someone who has Christian values and morals, who will protect our rights and abide by the U.S. Constitution, and who will do what is best for our country.

— I am so sick of liberals who are trying to take away the Christian values, traditions and rights that have made the United States the great nation it is today. Christians need to take a stand and go out and vote this year and put the right people in office.

— I would like to congratulate the people in this community who do more than just talk, but actually get things done. We need more people like that.

— Do everything you can to protect our right to keep and bear arms. It is stated in our Constitution. Don’t put anyone in office who thinks that they can go against the U.S. Constitution and take this right away from us.

— Funny how Commissioner Gilreath mentioned the school SPLOST expiring in three years as a way to convince a “yes” vote on the T-SPLOST. Wasn’t that the argument used for passing the previous one? While it did expire when the term was up, there was another voted in to take its place.

— I think it’s wonderful of the fith-grade Anne Street teachers to offer to meet with parents to explain the new curriculum standards. I hope every parent attends. It takes concerned teachers and involved parents to make our school system a success.

— On the sample ballot shown in the GDN, the Three Rivers District has a comment on the ballot that is promoting that the tax is going to guarantee jobs. How can they put that on the ballot right before the question of yes or no? This can’t be legal. I have never before seen politicking on the ballot itself.

— T-SPLOST to last 10 years. What a joke. These projects are not self-supporting. They will need another tax and another to keep these things open if we, the voters, are fooled to let them even get started.

— Since the year 2000, there have been 18,000 suicide attacks by Muslims. We are susposed to be tolerant of this so-called religion. No, never, they kill babies, children, women and innocent people. Probably 95 percent of these suicide bombings have been against civilians.

— I am so thankful that the Boy Scouts of America and Chick-fil-A are standing strong against same-sex marriage, and I’m truly sorry that the president of the United States and some Christian denominations don’t have the courage to do the same.

— I have to laugh when I read these comments from the right-wing zealots. They hear something on the Fox News Channel, then they send it to My Two Cents, thinking that they are brilliant. Simply put, you are intellectual midgets who are incapable of producing an original thought.

Please read Mr. Dan Cathy's actual statement. Ridiculous to comment on something the media has made up. Sadly people jump on the negative! Media should try honesty in reporting....but then they wouldn't sell as many papers, would they?

Let's think about "who" is going to actually....now be HONEST...RIDE the rail to Atlanta! Wonder if the folks who thought of it, researched it, campaigned for it ..will RIDE it! Will people who are NOT paying for it be the only ones who will ride it? Will it be safe? If so, how do we make sure of that? How big is it? What does it look like? Will it be gasoline or propane powered? How often will it come through? How many people will it hold? Why isn't anyone (elected officials-voters) asking these questions??? Just curious. Is the T-SPLOST going to be a slush fund? Will the list of proposed uses for this money be done in the order in which it has been published? I am only curious. I am not knocking either side. Just curious. Hope elected officials can look into how much tax we (as taxpayers!) pay on EACH gallon of gas????? Again, just curious! If we've chosen to live in Griffin- Let's make it great again! I think we can! VOTE Y'all!!!!!!!!!!

If you haven't had a chance to view the map of the proposed T-Splot projects--you really should make a point to. THREE (are you hearing me?) THREE projects are listed for the southside of Griffin. The other TWELVE are all north of town. Just like everything else in this town--southside will be paying for the northside. People will believe anything if they vote for this.

My knowledge of the legal system is minimal, but I expect that the holding of inmates for so long is purely financial. Doesn't the jail receive funds based on number of inmates? It is interesting that when funding is cut we see prisoners who are not considered a danger to society released so they can await their court appearance at the expense of family instead of the taxpayer.

so in today's "My two cents" in the GDN, someome wrote in about Christian music. saying that the "so-called" christian radio stations don't play real christian music, it's all rock'n'roll, and that you can't mix sacred music with the "devil's music" its a bold faced sin......REALLY???? I think ANY music no matter how it sounds, that praises God, is sacred!! The bible doesn't say christian music has to sound a certain way..that is a mind-set that has been pasted down from our older generation...this is why this generation is so lost, because what may have worked for the older generation of christians, doesn't work or sound appealinig to our generation or the next generation. Times change, how people interpt God's words thru music has to change to reach everyone, espeically the next generations. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the old school hymn songs, but that's not what saved me, God did!! My kids love 104.7 the Fish and J93.3, because they play music that speaks to them, it's music they can understand, they can be open with their worship to it, and it sounds good....and IT PRAISES OUR GOD, and THAT is all that matters!!!!!! Sorry to vent, but some things just get under my skin. We as the church and christians have to go with the flow and change with the times, and be appealing to the next generation, otherwise they will be lost!!

my church Voice to the Nations, believes in Empowering the next generation, not draggin them down my an old-school mind-set of believing, we let them sing their own song of Praise, becasue any song of Praise to God sounds good to God, no matter how it sounds!

Chick-fil-A always has and always will have my support and the support of all my family. I truly admire and respect Truett Cathy and his staff for standing up for their moral and Christian values. One MAN one WOMAN = MARRIAGE!!

Actually....the most common form of 'marriage' in the Bible is polygamy.

Chic-fil-A is a legend in its own right. Anyone in Hollywood or the LGBT community that is outspoken isn't going to hurt the business. I think the trouble comes from Dan Cathy's arrogance in his comment. Don't know much about Dan, but Chic-fil-A was built by Truett. He never interjected himself into politics as an arrogant christian.

Have any of the commenters on this site read Mr. Cathy's comments that set off this fire storm?

His comments are rather tame and measured. Not sure why folks would take exception to what he said.

Read what he said, then judge.

Are these comments a joke or are the people who send them in actually serious? The last comment is an exception, it seems to sum up what is going on here.

Well, my comment wasn't a joke. I was "actually serious" and meant every word! I can't speak for anyone else, though. If you were expecting a rude response from me then that's not going to happen because that would be wrong of me. I am a Christian and I am standing up for my Christian values. I'm not going to apologize that my comment offended you or anyone else who reads it. However, I will say that I do regret that my comment wasn't taken seriously and that some may have gotten a laugh from it. It wasn't meant for laughs at all.
