Construction is moving along for the new Spalding County Senior Citizens Center.

Spalding County Parks & Recreation Department staff on Thursday took some of the seniors who have been instrumental in the planning of the new senior center on a tour of the construction site. Annie George, Tommy Lindsey and Ronnie Perdue took part in the tour.

“These three and another who has since passed,” said Parks & Recreation Director Louis Greene, “toured other facilities and provided input for this center.”

Project Manager Paul Gable of MEJA Construction led the tour through the new facility, which he said is still on schedule to open in December.

Is it possible to have a pedestrial walk trail from the senior center into the lovely cemetary instead of a brick wall retainer? The view is quite lovely and I cant imagine a better outing for seniors than just walking out back among the trees and manicured grounds. A wall seems unnecessary and turns its back on the neighboring occupant. And the existing center values a trail b/c they have one. At least plan for an opening in the wall and negotiate access.
