JJ’s Lounge burned down Wednesday night.

Spalding County Fire Department responded to a fire at JJ’s Lounge on Georgia Highway 16 at about 10:34 p.m. Wednesday night to find it fully involved. Capt. Lee Slaughter said the business, which been there for years, was a complete loss.

Ferenicia Mathis, the widow of former owner Joe Lee Mathis, said the restaurant had just been

remodeled with a new roof, floors and bathrooms. “We were trying to get it opened back up.”
