Two special visitors recently flew into the Peach State Airport on Jonathan’s Roost Road in Williamson. Hollywood actors Harrison Ford ("Star Wars," "Indiana Jones") and Christopher Meloni ("Law and Order: Special Victims Unit") arrived at the airport on June 23 in a Cessna 182 single-engine plane, with Ford — an avid pilot and aviation enthusiast — at the controls.

According to Peach State Airport owner Ron Alexander, Ford, who owns and flies several different airplanes, had heard about the local airport from a fellow aviator, Henry Lowe of Macon, who is a friend of Alexander. Ford decided to fly to Peach State Airport and take a look for himself.

Ford and Meloni are filming the movie “42” in Atlanta. In the movie, which revolves around former baseball player Jackie Robinson, Ford plays Brooklyn Dodgers Manager Branch Rickey, while Meloni portrays former baseball player and manager Leo Durocher. Alexander’s DC-3 airliner will be filmed in the movie, too.
