• Isn’t it hypocritical to call yourself a Republican that opposes tax increases and wasteful spending and go around town promoting the TSPLOST?

• The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the US Department of the Interior, ask us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals.” Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.

• It sounds like the powers that be are blackmailing us into voting for the TSPLOST. It sickens me that counties will be penalized if they don’t vote for the TSPLOST.

• “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” — Thomas Jefferson

• The answer to our health problems is not universal health care but we need to stop drinking the sugar-laden soft drinks, stop eating the greasy fast food, stop smoking, stop drinking, and start exercising.

• To Nancy Pelosi and all those other gutless folks who walked out of the house on June 28 because a Democrat was charged with contempt of Congress. Just keep in the back of your mind, what happened in Wisconsin after people who were elected to serve the people, walked out. You “Lost.”

• Why is it someone can run for an office in Spalding County when their husband is a county commissioner? Is it not a conflict of interest? He votes on everything concerning that office. Just asking.

• If it wasn’t for continued poor management and wasteful spending by our state, county and city officials, we wouldn’t need SPLOST, E-SPLOST and now a T-SPLOST. Now we let it happen and it will never end.

• Don’t forget that the recycling centers were built using SPLOST funds. Now they are closed multiple days to save money. We may get the nice senior center built, but will there be money to keep it open?

• We are quickly losing our freedom in this country. We have become a nation of lily-livered whiners that want the government to take care of our every need even if it means losing our freedom. This country needs to wake up before it’s too late.

• My favorite things about the Griffin Daily News are the My Two Cents, the News of Yesteryear, and Ronda Rich.

I'd like to see some facts that support the need for Spalding to build a new airport. When Caterpillar picked Griffin 14 years ago, they said close proximity to I-75 and the port of Savannah were a few of the reasons....never heard them say anything about needing an airport close by. I'd just like to know whats going to happen at this airport, thats going to have businesses flocking to Griffin.

Well, at least someone is thinking about more than baggy pants and satanic influences.

I find it interesting that the TSPLOST includes $3M towards a study about a commuter rail from Griffin to Atlanta and almost $48M towards improvement of the airport. I will do the study myself for $100,000, and determine that it is a terrible idea. And instead of throwing $48M down the drain to improve the airport, why don't we use that money to improve important infrastructure like a certain bridge that has been closed for years or by paving a few dirt roads.

I find it ironic that the people who are complaining about the airport improvements, will also be the ones whining when Caterpillar decides to leave Griffin and take those jobs to another county or state. Do the research and see how much tax revenue is made from industry in this county and how much we are leaving on the table because we can not supply an adequate airport for larger companies to come into Griffin. We complain about our property taxes increasing, yet we have a chance for a "fair" tax and we complain about that also. Let's all sit back and be narrow minded and say we think it is all a waste of time and money, but in 5 years when our unemployment rates are doubled and the ones who are already paying taxes are paying more, then I guess we will all be happy. For once why not let EVERYONE pay for improvements to our county instead of just property owners. I am also tired of paying taxes, but I would much rather pay 1% on my purchases along with everyone else, than pay 15% on my property. I challenge everyone to research TSPLOST and find out all aspects of this proposal. If you do your research you will find how much sales tax revenue is made in Spalding county from our surrounding counties. When was the last time you went to Walmart in Pike or Lamar county? By the way, I am also a Republican and I also support TSPLOST.

"Traffic isn't suffocating Atlanta; our inability to be honest about race is suffocating not just Atlanta, but America."

Don't vote for T-Splost. Quit running from the problem. Have you paid attention to why people commute such long distances in order to live in safe viable communities? Think about it: Fulton, Dekalb,Clayton, Douglas, Rockdale--did I forget any?

These are very convienent counties to live in--but why so much travel? High Crime? Plummeting property values? No one wants to live where people riot when they don't get their checks on time or their Housing Voucher (2010 30,000 people rioted Atlanta).

Get real. Be honest. Tell the truth. Don't be afraid to be labeled or called a name. Enough is enough of this wasteful spending.
