— Congratulations Griffin-Spalding School Board. You have made us rank among the top 10 counties in the state that pay the highest school taxes.

Mormon is not a “nickname,” you redneck. It is a noun for a member of the LDS church. The LDS church is a cult, not a religion. But I’d rather have a Mormon as president than the fascist that we have now.

— I have to correct the My 2 Cents contributor who wrote that Davy Jones was a big influence on Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses. The Monkees were not an influence on Guns N’ Roses, they were a huge influence on The Beatles.

— If the T-SPLOST in November is approved, you will be paying another 1 percent in sales taxes. If you like tax increases, vote yes, but if you don’t like tax increases, vote “no.”

A concerned Spalding County citizen,

A neighbor of mine had a life threatening emergency inside of Spalding County. A ambulance and a Spalding County fire truck and a Griffin fire truck showed up. My neighbor was in serious condition and the ambulance drivers asked the Spalding County fire truck to drive them in and they told them that they were not allowed to get in a ambulance. The Griffin fire truck people were in the back helping and they drove the ambulance. My concern is what if the Griffin fire truck did not come? The Ambulance drivers were busy working on my neighbor and needed help. Why can Griffin fire truck people drive a ambulance and not Spalding County fire people? Can Spalding County fire people get certified to help the ambulance drivers like the Griffin fire people?

What's with all these golf cart crossing signs around town? If we are trying to be Peachtree City I think we need to focus on getting our crime and unemployment rates down and our household income up first, then we can worry about the golf carts.

I was reading the Griffin Daily News today while waiting to be seen for a doctors appointment. I quickly realized that I have made a terrible mistake that I will have to live with for a year now at least. I obviously made a mistake on my part for voting for the Splost for education tax. I was thinking that with all the trouble the school system seems to be having with meeting budgets and so forth this would help ease the pain and help them to fund jobs without having to let people go in this economy. Yeah, well I forgot to think like a politician. I read where voters of Griffin where being praised for voting in the Splost tax and then on the same page there was an artical explaining the $2.4 million in tax cuts for the fiscal year 2013 in the education system! What are we paying for? I will gaurantee you one thing - this mistake on my part will not happen again! I was hesitant for voting an extention on the tax in the first place due to how our government has not been good stuarts of our money in the first place. But after reading the jobs that are planned to be cut, I will not make the same mistake twice. If I remember correctly it was estimated that the splost tax would bring in some $30 million dollars in revenue (orwas it $300 million?)either way you would think they could actually help their community by cutting expenses somewhere else other than putting another family out of work. I don't know why I would expect anything different, but I can say I WILL BE VOTING "NO" in the future on the continuation of the Splost tax for education and any other tax that comes up for vote. I going to start with the "T" splost her in the near future. I will also be sure to do my part in informing others about this.

Have a nice day!
