This year’s event, brought to you by presenting sponsor Haisten McCullough Funeral Home for the second year in a row, goes off in a shotgun start at 12 noon and also includes a lunch provided by Chick-fil-A and Truett’s in addition to heavy post-round hors d’oeuvre at the clubhouse where awards and door prizes will be handed out.
Awards include $100 pro shop gift certificate per player to the winning team, $75 pro shop gift certificate per player to the runner-ups and $50 pro shop gift certificate per player to the third-place team in addition to awards for longest drive and closest to the pin — with a chance to win a car on one of the holes.
Fee to enter the tournament is $125 per player or $400 per four-man team, which is $350 if you are already an annual Chamber sponsor. Various sponsorship packages include: Gold ($1,000), Silver ($700) and Business at the Tee ($350). Supporting sponsorships are also available for $150 per green-side sign.

LITTLE LEAGUE REGISTRATION:
Spalding County Little League will be taking registrations from 10 a.m., until 2 p.m., on Saturday’s through Feb. 11th at AMBUCS park for the Spring 2012 season. Cost is $100 for baseball and $50 for softball.
Softball coaches are still needed. All softball coaches and volunteers (including head coaches, assistant coaches and team moms), will need to be at a Coach’s Meeting 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21 at Volunteer Park.
A free clinic is held 1 p.m., every Saturday for both baseball and softball.

GIRLS AAU BASKETBALL:
The local Georgia Xplosion basketball team, which plays girl’s AAU tournaments, will have tryouts for those in the third through seventh grades 4 p.m., Sunday Jan. 22 at the Griffin High School gym.

HEART HUSTLE:
Futral Road Elementary’s 12th annual Heart Hustle 5K Fun run/1-mile tot Trot is 8:30 a.m., Feb. 11 at Futral Road Elementary. Fee is $17 before Jan. 27 or $22 after for adults over 18 and $12 before and $17 after for children under 18. A family discount is also available where you subtract $5 for every third entry.
Race day registration and packet pick up will be held from 7:15 a.m., until race time.
You may also pick up your packet or register late from 4-6 p.m., Feb. 10 in the school cafeteria. Awards will be given for the 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, Tot Trot, 5K Run and 5K Walk.
