YOUTH LEAGUE FOOTBALL: Three title games to be played today at Memorial Stadium

The finals of the Piedmont Football League playoffs are today. Three of the four title games will be played at Memorial Stadium in Griffin beginning at 10 a.m.

The first game pits the Volunteers and Gators for the 5/6 Division championship, while the second game pits the Spalding County Jaguars and Spalding County Cowboys for the 7/8 Division championship beginning at 11 a.m.

The day’s final game pits the Spalding County Bills against the Spalding County Chiefs for the 9/10 Division championship beginning at 12:30 p.m. The 11/12 Division title game will be played in Jasper County where the top seeded Jasper County Hurricanes will host Spalding County Lions at the high school field in Monticello at 10 a.m.

Action from Tuesday night’s semifinal-round action included:

Chiefs 14, 49ers 8:

Rashaad Willis scored two touchdowns and Michael Webb added an extra point to lift the chiefs past the 49ers and into the 9/10 Division title game.

Tylia Pate scored a touchdown and Jaylon Walker added an extra point to lead the 49ers in a game where they trailed 14-0 at the half but went into the fourth quarter trailing, 14-6, by only six points.

Bills 22, Bulldogs 6:

Demarius Henley scored a pair of touchdowns and Jaden Jones added another to lift the Bills past the Bulldogs and into the 9/10 Division title game. Armanti Johnson kicked a pair of extra points to further the Bills’ cause in a game they led 6-0 at the half and 14-0 going into the fourth quarter. Ke’Sean Carter scored to lead the Bulldogs.

Volunters 27, Bulldogs 0:

Craig Wood scored four touchdowns and a safety and Ta’relle Henly added an extra point to lift the Volunters past the Bulldogs and into the 5/6 Division title game where they will square off against the Gators. The Gators advanced to the title game with a 20-01 win against the Yellow Jackets last weekend.
