The Griffin Daybreak Rotary Club heard from a fellow Rotarian, the German consul general from Atlanta, on Wednesday at the Griffin Country Club.

Lutz Gorgens, consul general of the German Consulate in Atlanta and a member of the Downtown Rotary, spoke about the importance of the foreign presence in Georgia. Gorgens said of the 61 new corporations to relocate to metro Atlanta, 29 had headquarters abroad and 800 of the 5,000 new jobs created came from these companies.

He said there are 700,000 jobs in the United States provided by German companies.

“In any given 10-year period,” Gorgens said, “I believe German companies have the biggest foreign investments in America.”
