GCHS lost its sixth straight game and ends its season at 7-10 overall and 1-7 in GISA Region 2-AAA action.
“We were just flat. It’s been a long year and I think the guys were just worn out,” said Crusaders head coach Chris Piland.
The game was the continuation of a rain-suspended game from April 15, in which there was electricity in the air and on the field.
The game was halted for minutes due to the ejection of Stratford’s coach and an altercation between players at the plate before rain and lightning strikes forced the game’s postponement
Tuesday’s game started in the top of the fifth inning with GCHS leading Stratford 12-11.
The Eagles scored three runs off GC’s Austin Craft to take a 14-12 lead in that inning. Piland brought in regular catcher Alex Lowry to pitch in the top of the sixth, but Stratford scored two more runs to lead 16-12 and the Eagles didn’t look back.
Craft scored GC’s 13th run off a wild throw as he headed to third base.
