The scholarships, intended as tuition reimbursement, must be used for tuition, books or lab fees.
Teachers interested in such scholarships must have at least one year of service as a certified employee in the Griffin-Spalding County School System and need to complete an online application as well as two professional or academic reference forms.
Applicants are also required to provide official transcripts showing that they are currently enrolled in post-graduation studies.
Scholarship recipients must agree, upon completion of certification or degree, to serve as a teacher or administrator in the Griffin-Spalding School System for at least one year if offered a position.
They must also remain in good academic standing while receiving a scholarship by maintaining passing grades and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
In order to be reimbursed, successful applicants will need to provide spring 2011 grades and a tuition receipt or a loan statement.
If a recipient does not use all of the $1,000 for spring term reimbursement, he or she may submit a summer 2011 or fall 2011 grade report plus tuition receipt to receive the remaining balance of the scholarship.
The application, which is due March 25, can be obtained at the Web site of the Education Foundation at www.supportspaldingschools.org.
Scholarship recipients will be notified during the week of April 11.
Funding for these scholarships is made possible through the Teachers Giving to Teachers campaign, corporate donations and fund-raising efforts and events.
