The Jags defeated Southwest Macon 46-32 and the Lady Jags sped past Central Macon 63-50 on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Jags, now 3-6 on the year, took a 15-3 first-quarter lead and never looked back against Central Macon’s Lady Chargers.
They led 32-23 at the half and took a 52-32 lead into the fourth quarter before cruising to the victory. Sophomore guard Grenishia Daniel led the way for Spalding with a career-high 16 points and she added five rebounds and four steals as well.
Freshman guard Olivia West also reached double figures, chipping in 13 points, six rebounds and five steals for Spalding. Dee Dee Matthews, a junior, poured in 9 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks.
“In both these tournament games, we’ve reached season-highs in points with 61 and 63,” said a jubilant Lady Jags head coach Demetrius King. “Let’s hope this continues when we host Jackson next week.”
Davin White led the Jags (7-3) in scoring Thursday against Southwest Macon with 11 points and Chris Mayes chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds in the contest.
Markee Dickerson added eight points and Devin White had 7 points for Spalding, which took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and was tied at 19 at the half.
SHS put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Southwest Macon 17-6 to lead by 11 heading into the fourth quarter, 36-25.
Davin White was selected to the All-Tournament team from Spalding.
Both Spalding teams have completed the 2010 portion of their schedule and open play in the new year on Jan. 4 at home against Jackson High, starting at 6 p.m.
