Mrs. Hazel Frances Fraser Short, 86, of Griffin, passed away Dec. 13, 2010, at her residence. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She was a loving mother to her family, a helpmate and devoted wife of 63 years to Tillman Sam Short, who passed away in September 2009. She was born June 26, 1924, in Gwinnett County to the late Samuel Belk Fraser and Dovie Irvin Fraser. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Fraser, Lloyd Fraser and Royce Fraser; and two sisters, Glenna Sawyer and Carol McDaniel.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Brenda and Joel Pitts of Thomaston, Larry and Marie Short of Griffin, and Terry Short and fiancee Debbie Gannon of Hampton; grandchildren and their spouses, Sammy Short, Bobby and Suzanne Short, Tim and Bonnie Short, Connie and Shane Patterson, Jessica and Jame Lathren and Andrew and Kimberly Chatham; great-grandchildren, Lauren Beck, Ryan Short, Katy Short, Mira Lathren, Holt Lathren, Abby Short, Luke Chatham, Jacob Patterson and Levi Patterson;

great-great grandson, Jude Beck; sisters, Ollie Mae Johnston of Greenwood, Fla., and Janice Elaine Griffith of Lower Salem, Ohio; and brother, Billy Ray Fraser of Monticello.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with the Rev. Harvey Wilson officiating. Friends may visit the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
