She was employed at Griffin Industries for more than 20 years and retired from the K-Mart Distribution Center in Shenandoah, Ga.
Mary Lois was affectionately known as “Mama and Grandmama Mary Lois” to her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for taking care of others and a love for her dogs.
She leaves to carry on her memory and legacy: daughters, Thelma (Milton) Holmes and Jeraldine Jackson of Griffin, Ga.; sons, Melvin Johnson Sr. of Detroit, Mich., Wayne Johnson and Samuel Johnson of Griffin, Ga.; sisters, Claudine (James) Adams of Griffin, Ga., and Lillie Opal Crawley of College Park, Ga.; brothers, Milton Crawley and Eddie B. Crawley of Griffin, Ga., Bobby Crawley of Barnesville, Ga.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; goddaughter, C. Neely; special friends, Annette Dukes, Dorothy Davis, Lucille Appling, Dorothy Stinson, and Frances Jester; special nurse, Tammy Collier.
Funeral services for Mary Lois Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Church at Griffin. Pastor Bernard Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Visitation was Friday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. The cortege is asked to assemble at the residence at 12:30 p.m.
