The Faith Christian Academy Lions football team had its most successful season in its three-year history in 2010, advancing to the ICSGA 8-man football state championship game against Trinity Christian last weekend.

FCA finished its 2010 season with a 5-6 overall record.

Earlier in the season, Lions head coach Nelson Grist would’ve given a Jim Mora Sr. sound bite (Playoffs? Playoffs??) if asked about whether his team could make consecutive playoff berths.

The team held a 2-2 record and things were going fine — until a rash of injuries devastated the Lions, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy. Undaunted, FCA persevered with a huge 44-20 win over Lafayette Christian, clinching the final playoff berth in the ICSGA South. It was the last regular-season win the Lions would get.

Heading into the ICSGA playoffs on a 3-game losing streak, the Lions got healthy and hungry, dispatching Colonial Hills (46-42) and CrossPointe (44-36) on the road before falling to Trinity 52-22 in the state title game held at Loganville Christian Academy.

Robert Jackson rushed for 159 yards and scored all 3 FCA TDs in the title game.
