— Will the new county manager be named before construction might actually start on the senior citizen center? Lets see, from Jan. 1, 2010, and it is almost the middle of November — and the same five commissioners. Is this progress? Come on, Jan. 1, 2011. Then let’s boot some more.

— What ever happened to the Griffin Police Department bike patrol that was so energetically announced a couple of years ago? Haven’t seen any officer on a bike in a long time. Seems like it would be a great idea for the downtown area. Visibility, stealth, plus they could be “ambassadors” for the community.

— I thought professional soccer players were the biggest babies in sports. But then I saw the jockey from Zenyatta crying after his horse lost the race. You’ve got to be kidding me.

— We appreciate the hard work Coach Owens puts in working with the Spalding High cross country team. It takes a rare person to be able to motivate high school students to run like she does. Thanks Coach Owen.

— I saw Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton get into a fight at the NASCAR race, but I think Jeff Burton needs to be careful because he might get in trouble for hitting a woman.

Show me 1 Griffin police officer that would last five minutes pedeling a bike. But to more important issues...with all this federal stimulas money going to intersection inprovement like sidewalk corners that don't connect any sidewalks ie corners at south hill and cresent and south hill and milner. What act of congress could get the money to actually build the sidewalks in the neihborhoods that need them.
