To the editor:

I urge the people who vote on T-SPLOST to really consider what they are voting on. Remember this is a tax that will last 10 years.

Spalding County has 15 projects on its list if it is approved.

One of these projects that concerns me is the re-location of Highway 155 to North McDonough Road. There are 93 driveways and 16 roads or cross streets and some of these homes will lose yards of frontage from the roadway toward their homes. With a minimum of 100 feet from the center line, this means some homes will probably be destroyed.

This project said the state would cost between $10 million to $15 million. Driveways, lawns, water meters, utility poles, and gas lines would have to be moved back toward people’s homes. This is a lot of expense for just a few trucks a day.

It’s sad when a completely good neighborhood will be destroyed just to keep a few trucks from downtown and make the people downtown happy.

I bet none of the powers-that-be who want these changes live on McDonough Road.

Please think hard before you vote.

My husband works for an airline. He travels from Griffin to Hartsfield International. I grew up in Forest Park--Clayton County. Why on earth do we live in Griffin?? If it were safe enough and nice enough to live near the airport--we would. Traffic is everyone's problem because of the undesirables that the Democrats love to support have taken over any nice, convienent place to live in metro Atlanta. This is why we have the "traffic" problems. Don't continue to feed this monster. Its time to stop running, face it down, and move it out.
