A traffic stop early Friday morning led to the arrest of three teens on possession of an imitation controlled substance.

About 2:03 a.m., Friday, police observed a green Toyota Camry stopped at red light in the southbound lanes of North Expressway. The officer ran the tag and it reportedly came back suspended, so he initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, who stopped at the rear parking lot of the Sonic on Taylor Street, told the officer when asked for his license and insurance that he did not have a license and did not know where the insurance card was for the car. He said he did not have a license but the backseat passenger did.

The officer gathered information from all three passengers and returned to his patrol car to run their information, which reportedly came back with no warrants. He also called for assistance, and noted the occupants were more nervous than the usual citizen on a traffic stop.
