Tab Run organizer Arnie Cobb of Southside Riders Association, said Monday, “so far we raised $6,800 and brought in 3,300 in tabs.”
He said there were 600 people and 500 motorcyles in Saturday’s ride from Griffin to Warm Springs and on to LaGrange. Cobb said Earl Shivers from the governor’s office was on hand and will “report back on good stuff on the Southside.”
Cobb said the “most emotional event” for him was the riders going under the large American flag, which was hung between two fire trucks by Griffin Fire-Resuce and Spalding County Fire Department on Georgia Highway 362, just west of Carver Road as the ride headed out of town.
“We had really, really great time,” Cobb said.
He wanted to thank all of the Southside Riders, all of the sponsors and “all of the law enforcement who made this a safe ride.”
The ride was escorted by Spalding County, Meriwether County and Troup County sheriff’s offices and the Georgia State Patrol.
He said Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol handled all of the logistics for the ride.
Prior to riding out Saturday, Ronald McDonald House of West Georgia thanked the Southside Riders Association.
Development Director Melody Moran presented Cobb with a plaque. And a recent resident, Annie Washington of Jackson thanked the participants as well as staff on behalf of herself and her son Gunner for their 77-day stay.
