Griffin Power crews work at Substation 1 to restore electricity to city residents Monday afternoon. The power was out for at least an hour and a half. Griffin Power Assistant Director Tom Ridgway said power was out to a portion of the city from North Hill Street and City Hall to East Griffin as the line from Georgia Power to the substation was out. Ridgway said the line goes down to Thomaston. There were reports of outages to the south in Barnesville as well. Service to Spalding Regional Medical Center was switched to another substation when the power went out from Substation 1, Ridgway said. Most street lights in the affected area remained on as they are on a separate circuit, Ridgway said. "There are six circuits at the substation," he said, "only the odd-numbered ones seem to be affected."
