As officers with the Griffin Police Department (GPD) were patrolling the area of North Second Street and Quilly Street Sunday at about 10:10 p.m., they noticed a black female — identified as 55-year-old Flora Jean Benton, of Griffin — standing in the roadway and swinging a long stick that appeared to be the handle of an ax.

According to a GPD incident report, several people were standing around Benton — including teenagers, children and a female with a toddler.

After police had ordered the crowd to disperse and people started to move north on North Second Street, police officers noticed several individuals arguing.

As they began to make their way to Benton, who was still swinging the ax handle and pushing people, a fight reportedly broke out during which men, women, teenagers and children were hitting each other.

Later that night, Benton was arrested at her residence and transported to police headquarters.

Really? And you won't post my comments in MY TWO CENTS? GDN hands out free rose colored glasses when entering the city limits.
