Four Pike County residents have filed suit against the school system, the elections superintendent, and a board member-elect alleging in part that the county failed to complete 2012 redistricting prior to the elections held this summer. The complainants, Robert E. Adams Jr., Patricia A. Beckham, Martha J. O’Neal, and Betty Willis, are represented by the Kendall Law Firm of Griffin.
Adams was a candidate in the race, but only received 69 or 10.66 percent of the 647 votes cast in the District 4 race in the July 31 election, finishing fourth. The top two in the July 31 election, Jim Brooks with 245 or 37.87 percent and Connie Green with 195 or 30.14 percent competed in the run-off election Aug. 21, with Brooks getting 153 or 56.88 percent to Green’s 113 or 42.1 percent.
