Mr. Harold Eugene Morris

Sept. 6, 1934—March 10, 2013

Mr. Harold Eugene Morris, 78, of Griffin, was called home on Sunday, March 10, 2013.

Mr. Morris was born on September 6, 1934 to the late Lacer and Mozelle Turner Morris. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Joan Bass Morris and his only son, David Scott (Scotty) Morris; brothers, Jack Lee Morris and Thomas Carl Morris; sister, Connie Morris LaRocco. Mr. Morris was a veteran of the Korean War, a championship boxer in the United States Army. He was retired from Delta Air Lines and a long time past employee of the Cedars and Pines Golf Clubs. He was a dedicated member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter, past deacon and a member of the Men’s Bible School Class. Mr. Morris was a graduate of Gordon College.

Survivors include his children, Tammy and Mitch Hammond, Lisa and Lamont Sudduth; grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Postell, Jordan and Brandi Hammond, Andrew and Hannah Gelmini, Phillip Sudduth and Benjamin, Mary Grace, Anna and Sarah Morris; great grandchildren, Conner Hutto and Brody Hammond; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tom Connell; his wife’s family, Nancy and Lewis Stinchcomb, Phil and Deborah Bass, Tony and Kay Bass, sisters-in-law, Clovis Morris and Betty Morris; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Harold Eugene Morris will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A celebration of Mr. Morris life will held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Reverend Chris Holdorf and Reverend John Nance will officiate. The family has requested that all members of the Men’s Bible Class sit together. Mr. Morris loved his church and his family as requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church Mission Funds, 100 Lakeside Rd, Williamson, GA 30292 in memory of Mr. Morris.

Mrs. Mildred M. Parham

Oct. 12, 1919—March 11, 2013

Mrs. Mildred M. Parham, 93, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mrs. Parham was born in Tallapoosa, Georgia on October 12, 1919. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Morton, her husband James Leonard Parham. She was retired from Dundee Mills.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Leonard Crowley; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Parham and Donny and Patricia Parham; 6 grandchildren, 8 Great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jewell Landers.

Visitation for Mrs. Mildred Parham will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Cryptside funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Westwood Mausoleum. Reverend Charles Killingsworth will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Mausoleum on Wednesday.

Mrs. Essie Mae Vickery Spier

June 1, 1921—March 11, 2013

Mrs. Essie Mae Vickery Spier, 91, of Griffin, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013.

Mrs. Spier was born June 1, 1921 in McKenzie, AL (Butler County) to Lamon F. Vickery and Ruby Schofield Vickery. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister Lily Couey, and her two brothers Winton and Lowell Vickery. Mrs. Spier graduated from Beulah Heights Bible Institute in Atlanta, GA on May 25, 1939, and she soon became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Church. She married Emory M. Spier, Sr. on May 18, 1940 and they resided in Thomaston GA and surrounding areas for many years until settling in Griffin in 1972. She retired a Decorator from Sherwin Williams in 1984. She joined the First Assembly of Griffin in 1982.

Survivors include her beloved and devoted husband of 72 years, Emory M. Spier, Sr., her children, E. Merritt Spier, Jr. and wife Dale Spier, Tim Spier and wife Charlotte Spier, and Vic Spier (Linda Spier), and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Essie Mae Vickery Spier will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at First Assembly Of Griffin. Dr. Randy Valimont and Dr. Ken Peek will officiate. Interment will follow in Cathedral Of Praise Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Assembly Of Griffin General Fund, 2000 W. McIntosh Rd., Griffin, GA 30223.

Mr. Kenneth Wayne King

Mr. Kenneth Wayne King, 66, of Griffin, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia.

Mr. King was born on June 9, 1946 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Jimmy King, and the late Pauline Ison King Bransford.

Survivors include his wife, of 44 years, Joyce King; daughters and their husbands, Karla and Kevin Purser, Kerry and Terry Akins; grandchildren, Emma, Ethan and Evie Akins.

Memorial service for Mr. Kenneth Wayne King will be conducted on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at Griffin Alliance Church, 390 LaPrade Road, Griffin, Ga. 30223. Reverend Larry Maddox will officiate.

Mr. Billy Ellis Parker

Mr. Billy Ellis Parker, 75, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mr. Parker was born in Griffin July 2, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Ruby Parker.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Billy Parker will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the new section of Oak Hill Cemetery. Reverend Gene Walton will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12 noon.
