Virginia C. “Ginny” Anderson

Dec. 22, 1923—Dec. 17, 2012



Ginny Anderson, 88, entered into rest on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012.

Mrs. Anderson was born on December 22, 1923 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Edwin Elijah Cook and Mary Etta Coggins Cook. A wonderful homemaker and devoted wife, she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. Ginny was a passionate seamstress who loved to socialize. She was a faithful member of Centerville United Methodist Church and President of Lydia Circle at Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eleven sisters and six brothers.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 68 years, John William Anderson, Warner Robins; children, Mary Mathis, Stone Mountain; Bonnie Combes (Richard), Fripp Island, S.C.; John W. Anderson II (Laura), San Bernardino, Calif.; and Elizabeth Keaney (Tim), Gray; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following at 3 p.m. in Fincher Cemetery, Meansville. Timothy Wayne Jimerson

Jan. 11, 1950—Dec. 11, 2012



Timothy (Tim) Wayne Jimerson died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 in Jacksonville, Fla. after a lengthy battle with cancer. Tim was born Jan. 11, 1950 in Griffin to Virginia Taylor Jimerson Lupa and the late Roderick Wesley Jimerson.

Tim as an executive with American Express and later with lee and Cates Glass Company. Tim was always a high achiever, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters Kelli Jimerson Helsom and husband Josh, of Denver Colo., Stacy Jimerson of Charleston, S.C., and Jenna Jimerson, of Jacksonvill, Fla.; mother Virginia Taylor Jimerson Lupa, of Macon; brothers, Mike Jimerson and Darryl Jimerson, of Griffin; and Dianne Jimerson, of Jacksonville, Fla., mother of Kelli and Stacy.

Memorial services will be held at a later date after the birth of his first grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Community Hospice, 4715 Worral Way, Jacksonville, FL 32224 in memory of Tim.



Mr. Fredrick ‘Chubby’ Dewberry

March 25, 1951—Dec. 15, 2012

Fredrick Dewberry was born March 25, 1961 in Griffin to Johnnie (Willie) Dewberry and Bobby Crawley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight “Peter” Smith and a sister, Carmethia Dewberry.

Fredrick attended Griffin High School. He was employed by the Spalding County School System for many years. He also worked as an on-call security guard for several years. When he was not driving the bus or doing security, you could find him dee-jaying, where he was known as “DJ Flava.”

Fredrick was a charter member of New Generation Christian Fellowship under the pastoral leadership of Apostle Mamie J. Harris-Smith, whome he loved dearly and the New Generation church family.

Chubby had a thorn in the flesh for many years, kidney disease, but he didn’t faint or cave in to life. He continued to believe in God and His amazing grace. Chubby lived in love and not hate. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and coaching the girls’ softball team at “New G.” He also loved eating his mother’s cooking and playing spades and called himself the “King of Spades.”

Mr. Dewberry departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Spalding Regional Hospital, leaving to cherish his memory his mother, Johnnie (Willie) Dewberry; father, Bobby Crawley; one son, Cedrick (Michele) Jenkins, of Griffin; three daughters, Zemekia Dewberry, Sedalia Newberry, and Montanna Dewberry, all of Griffin; one granddaughter, Ma’Riyah Dallas; brothers, Derrick Dewberry and Warren Dewberry Sr., and Reginald Dewberry, all of Griffin; sisters, Carleitha Dewberry and Nichole Andrews, both of Griffin; seveeral loving and devoted friends, Delmonica Dewberry, Daryl Burden, Sonya Watson, Edward Johnson, Robert King, and Daryl (Val) Hendricks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Fredrick Dewberry, of 1705 Pineview Road, Griffin, will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at New Generation Christian Fellowship at 11 a.m. Dr. Mamie Smith, Senior Pastor, and Pastor Lou Miller will officiate. Public viewing will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. The cortege will assemble at 10:15 a.m. from the residence.

Mr. William Donnie Hughes

Mr. William Donnie Hughes, 54, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Hughes was born Aug. 28, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hughes and Annie Mae Bailey Hughes.

Survivors include his sons and their wives, Donnie William and Renee’ Hughes, Sandon Joshua and Sarah Hughes and Christopher Ian and Holly Hughes; best friend, Sandra Hughes; grandchildren, Haleigh, D.J., Emilie, Ian and six siblings.

Funeral services for Mr. William Donnie Hughes will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Pastor Tracy Stone will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.

Mr. James Jackson Hambrick, age 86 of Griffin, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mr. Hambrick was born in Griffin, Georgia on March 11, 1926. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Hambrick and Jewel Pitts Hambrick, also preceded in death by sistser, Eloise Morris, brothers, Leon, William, Donnie and Ronnie Hambrick. He was retired from the Highland Mill.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maenell Hambrick; several nieces and nephews.

Per his request there will be no service held and he was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
