Mr. Daniel Boone Melton

Mr. Daniel Boone Melton, 81, of Griffin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Melton was born Sept. 16, 1931 to the late Perry and Mae Sawyer Melton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Melton; son, Robin C. Melton and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Melton was an outstanding man, a wonderful husband, a great father and an amazing grandfather. He was exceptionally smart and worked for FEMA as head man for 20-plus years helping other people. He retired in 1995 and spent the remainder of his time with his grandchildren that he loved dearly. He has taught everyone so much. He was well-respected, a very great, wonderful man with a loving heart that could fix anything that was broken.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lilly A. and Carl Gober, Sr. of Forest Park; grandchildren, Sarah Melton, Carl Gober, Jr. and James Gober; great-grandchildren, Michael, Antuanna, Marcella, Halie, Amber and Nathan; and niece, Lynn Swann.

Memorial services for Mr. Daniel Boone Melton will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. The Rev. Franklin Gibson will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Nellie A. Parrish

Died Jan. 23, 1013

Mrs. Nellie A. Parrish, 87, of Las Vegas, formerly of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 in Las Vegas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William T. Parrish, and her son, Michael A. Parrish.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, son Robert Parrish and family, daughter Debra Parrish and family, son Anthony Parrish and family, daughter Valerie Califf and family; and sister, Sally Hollaway.

A memorial and graveside service will be conducted for Mrs. Parrish on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 in Gotha, Fla. Woodlawn Memorial Park and Cemetery, Gotha, Fla. are in charge of arrangements.

Robert Harold Coker Jr.

Died Feb. 14, 2013

Murrayville resident

Robert Harold Coker Jr., 73, of Murrayville, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Northlake Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Jones and the Rev. Tony Smith will officiate. The family will receive guests at their home in Murrayville on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 from 1–5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013. Visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. in the Cash Foyer of Northlake Baptist Church.

Mr. Coker was born Dec. 13, 1939 in Experiment to the late Robert Harold Coker Sr. and Onabelle Brown Coker. He served in the Air Force and was retired from Georgia Power. Robert was a charter member of Northlake Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a Gideon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James R. Coker.

Mr. Coker is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lana Echols Coker of Murrayville, daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Robert Yancey of Sandy Springs, son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. Coker, III and Sheri Rea Coker, of Little Rock, Ark.; grandsons, Coker Cresap Yancey and George L. Taber V; granddaughter, Kiplin Rea Taber; sister, Nancy Carolyn Coker of Smyrna,; and brother, David Thomas Coker of Red Oak.

Mrs. Mary Grace Wilson

Mrs. Mary Grace Wilson, 101, of Griffin, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at The Woods Assisted Living Facility in Griffin.

She was born in Thomaston on July 2, 1911 to the late Walter David Vining and Grace Reeves Vining. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Albert and Harrison Vining. She spent her childhood in Thomaston and Meansville. After graduating from high school, she attended Business College of Georgia in Macon for two years. Upon completion of Business College, she worked for City Diary in Thomaston as a bookkeeper. Here, she met and married William Edward (Ed) Wilson.

Mrs. Wilson was member of First Baptist Church of Griffin, where she played the piano for the Men’s Bible Class for many years and was a member of the Wisteria Garden Club. She loved playing bridge and the piano and was loved for her sweet, kind nature.

She is survived by her three children, Patricia Scroggins and her husband Bob of Griffin; Richard Wilson and his wife Anne of Columbus, and Ginny Wall and her husband Tuck of Macon; sisters, Pauline Stell of Fayetteville and Virginia Elliott of Newnan; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank The Woods for the unending devotion and loving kindness of allthe staff to our Mother. A word of gratitude goes to Eternal Hope Hospice for all the love and care given by them as well.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Grace Wilson will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Hardy and Dr. Bruce Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow in Fincher Memorial Cemetery in Meansville. Friends may visit the family Sunday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
