Henry Williams, of Barnesville, after spending the night with his brother, G.H. Williams, left for Nashville, Tenn., to resume his studies at Vanderbilt University where he was also captain of the football team.
Arthur Littleton returned to his home in Atlanta after a few days visit here to his father, Captain G.H. Littleton, and family.
Public sales day at Jackson was well attended, according to the report of a Jackson man, and all property sold brought a good price. The lands of Mrs. Julia Duke, deceased, at Stark, brought $30 an acre.
Mrs. Richard Drake entertained with a lovely dinner especially in compliment to Miss Lillian Fraser and invited to meet the attractive honor guest were Miss Campbell, Mr. & Mrs. Roswell Drake and Mr. Richard Drake. The rooms were very attractive with ferns, pink begonias and white Roman hyacinths.

Jerry E. Long, seaman, USN, son of Mr. & Mrs. Floyd O. Long of Griffin, left aboard the escort vessel USS Hooper for a tour of duty with the U.S. Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific.
Thomas T. Rhodes, boatswain’s mate 3rd class, USN, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wiley Rhodes of Experiment, was promoted to his present rate while serving at the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base, Norfolk, Va.
Joel F. Cardell, aviation electronics technician airman, USN, son of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Cardell of Experiment, was serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Saratoga operating with the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean.

Richard Tash was named Employee of the Year of the City of Griffin’s Sanitation Department. Tash, head mechanic in the shop, along with other employees were recognized during their annual awards banquet.
Mr. & Mrs. J.N. Caldwell of Griffin, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a reception at their home.
American Mills Plant Manager Billy Jones and Human Resource Manager Joe Brown presented Doug Taylor with a check for $1,753.80, donated by American Mills employees to the United Fund. Taylor was the industrial committee chairman for the United Fund.
Lee Callaway was presented the Eagle Scout Badge at County Line United Methodist Church, sponsoring institution of Troop 84. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Linwood Callaway of Griffin. Callaway’s brother, Robby Callaway, was the first in Troop 84 to earn the Eagle badge.
