Mrs. Julius Gresham was the delightful hostess at an afternoon party. Two tables of dominos were played and after the game a delicious luncheon was served at the small tables.
Mrs. Hilton Tyus entertained with a lovely six o’clock dinner in honor of her mother Mrs. Thomas R. Talmadge of Forsyth. The house was attractive with vases and bowls of daffodils on mantels and cabinets in all the rooms combined with ferns and handsome foliage plants. Invited to meet the guest of honor were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mangham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams and Mr. Hilton Tyus.
The material of the latest style in gloves was silk in all the pale tints. The gloves were long and with the upper part in small tucks.
Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Stevens returned from a two-months’ trip to Fla., spending the last week in St. Augustine to witness the Ponce de Leon celebration and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Manley for several days.

Robert Whiting received a B.S. degree in agriculture and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Whiting of Concord.
The Griffin American Legion Post No. 15 was awarded the outstanding work in child welfare. The award was earned when Wilson Bevil was commander of the post. The award was made by the State Department of American Legion to the Griffin Post for the most outstanding child welfare program in the Fourth District.
Airman James P. Crowley, son of Mrs. Fred Crowley of Griffin, completed his initial course of Air Force basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base. Crowley is a graduate of Griffin High School.
Mrs. O.N. Mathis of Griffin attended the fall board meeting of the National Federation of Music Clubs held at Interlochen, Mich. Mrs. Mathis is a member of the National board of directors of the clubs and a state representative.

Airman William D. Whitaker, son of William R. and Shirley M. Whitaker of Griffin, graduated from the turboprop propulsion mechanic course at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill.
Marine Lance Cpl. Gorman A. Young and Marine Staff Sgt. Kark S. Zickefoose participated in a combined arms exercise with the Second Tank Battalion, Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Young is the son of Chandos A. Young of Griffin. Zickefoose is married to the daughter of Morris S. and Clair B. Moore of Griffin.
Marine Pvt. Lawrence E. Parker, son of Lawrence and Modestine M. Parker of Griffin, completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Parker is a 1984 graduate of Griffin High School.
Airman William B. Walker, son of Katherine E. Hall and stepson of Jerry W. Hall of Hampton, graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Marine Pvt. Brandon J. Carroll, son of Archie Carroll of Hampton, completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1998 graduate of Lovejoy High School.
M.C. and Eula Montgomery Nolton celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary with a dinner with family. Their children are K.C. and Jewel Nolton of Tenn., David and Cora Morris, Edwin and Patricia Cameron, and B.J. Nolton, all of Griffin, and the late Stella Duranham and Lewis Nolton.
Stanley and Valerie Denise White celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary with a nice dinner. Their children are Stanley III, Stuart Alexander, and Stetmen Dashon. Mr. and Mrs. White were married at the Spalding County Courthouse.
Brian and Macy Jinks Crow celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Crow were married at First Baptist Church in Griffin.

Daughters of the American Revolution, Pulaski Chapter, members attended the State Board of Management in Dublin. The chapter officers who attended included: Jean Brown, chaplain; Christine Napier, regent; and Alice Blake, vice president.
T.J. Chambers and Courtney Vaughn, students in Mrs. Brake’s kindergarten class at Orrs Elementary School, decorated Indian shakers for Native American Day. When their projects were completed, they went with their classmates to the playground to rattle and dance with the shakers.
Dustin and Star Smith celebrated their first anniversary. They are the parents of Dylan Skyler Smith. The couple planned to celebrate by spending a day in north Georgia. The couple were married at Orchard Hill Baptist Church.
Rodney and Erica Askin celebrated their second anniversary. They are the parents of Son, Jamarcus, Rodnekus, Kendriquez, Shundreka, Rytirius and Sharron. The couple were married in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
