— Is the Kroger company so hard up it has to depend on the city and county to build a new store? Why is the city and county even involved? If this happens, I will no longer shop at Kroger.
— Whoever voted to put Obama in office as president needs to move to Cuba where they will have a socialist government. We don’t want that in America. If you want America to be put back like America should be, then please vote for Romney/Ryan.
— So many movies shot here have a plot location as 1950s Alabama. Should we be embarrassed by this?
— Duh. After many years of being a movie location, suddenly, the city BOC wakes up. We could make money from fees paid by these production companies. I bet they have monies in their budgets to cover such fees, don’t you think?
— No one ever asked to see Obama’s tax returns because they know he pays his fair share.
— Is the “Walking Dead” television series about the city and county BOC?
— Since the citizens of Spalding County are paying for the new Kroger store I hope they will offer a special discount to Spalding County residents when they open.
— Why is every building on Taylor Street being painted a neon color?
— “If anyone thinks the words government and efficiency belong in the same sentence, we have counseling available.” — Paul Tsongas
— The Kiwanis Fair is right around the corner and I can’t wait. The highlight of my year is getting one of their corn dogs.
— Recently there was a comment in this section that anyone disagreeing with the government should be investigated and rounded up by the police. Clearly the individual has not read history leading up to World War II and also does not understand communism. Our First Amendment is still in place, regardless of the current administration, and I will voice my opinion whenever I choose, wherever I choose.
— I can’t understand why we paid any outside tax assessors. A piece of property is only worth as much as anyone is willing to pay. Every house in my subdivision is on average 30 percent higher than the high sale price. But then again, I don’t think any politicians live in here.
— The Great Bulldawg Hunt is a tragedy waiting to happen. I witnessed cars running redlights, stop signs and weaving in and out of traffice in route to try and find a stuffed Bulldawg. A bad tragedy will surely happen sooner or laters and then the ones who sponsor events like this will definitely be hit with severe lawsuits.
— Pertaining to The Griffin Daily News story about gaming machine restrictions. If people are so naive to believe someone would site and put money into them for hours and just get fre play, you’re dumber than I thought. These machines take in a boat load of money. It might offend some of you but I smell kickbacks here.
— Apparently, our Griffin-Spalding County schools are going a pretty good job teaching citizenhip. We do argue and complain about our elected officials, however, we don’t elect or support a known criminal for public office. Is it possible that the voters in a nearby county didn’t know that the man they elected for sheriff had over 30 criminal charges, or did they not care?
— To all those teachers and parents who try to teach goodness and kindness, honesty and pride in our community, we say thank you. And to all those people who vote hoping for a better community, we continue to say thank you.
